Shepley First School

Welcome to our school

We hope you find our web-site informative. If, having looked through it, you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate in contacting us or telephoning to arrange a visit.

Our popular and successful primary school for pupils aged 4 – 10 is situated in the village of Shepley and is a member of the highly popular and very successful three-tier Shelley Pyramid of schools within Kirklees.

We aim to create a positive learning environment where our children feel included and valued, happy and secure, where they experience and develop high self-esteem and confidence in their own abilities.

I am sure as you walk around Shepley First you will see why we are really proud of our children, staff and our school.

Dear Parents

The cold wet weather has certainly descended upon us now! Thank you for sending your    children wrapped up to be outside at playtimes, lunchtime and for Muddy Puddle time. We like to be outdoors as much as possible so please check the weather for the day and send your child with what they will need that day.

A big thank you for all the donations for Children in Need we have raised £281.50, the children really enjoyed the walk on Wednesday.

Year 3 have had their first out of five climbing lessons this morning at Cliffe House and Year 4 had their first out of five canoeing lessons at Huddersfield Canal which is also co-ordinated by Cliffe House staff. The children and staff have thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and are looking forward to next week. This is a great opportunity for the children.

Good luck to our Y5 athletics team who will be taking part in the Shelley Pyramid Sportshall Athletics competition next week!

Year 4 are looking forward to their 1 night residential at Cliffe House next week. They will be taking part in canoeing, crate stacking, climbing and learning further bushcraft skills.

Please note all the dates on the newsletter calendar for Christmas activities taking place over the coming weeks, especially our Christmas Fair on Friday 6th December after school. There is a non-uniform day on Monday 2nd December for donations of wine or chocolate for the Christmas Fair. All your help and support at this event is greatly appreciated by the staff and by FOSFS.
